When Rachel’s heart was broken as a little girl by the passing of her grandmother a week before Christmas, the holidays became nothing more than a nuisance. She’s determined to ignore the holidays and focus on her goal of moving out of this sleepy town and into the big city. But a chance discovery of a forgotten Christmas Club, the Silver Belles, unveils a hidden connection between her grandmother and the close-knit community she longs to escape.
Tyler couldn’t wait to get out of the big city and experience a small-town Christmas in Laurel Valley. Coordinating the Christmas potluck is sure to raise his spirits. Little did he know his co-planner is a modern-day Scrooge, who’s been taking this beautiful town for granted. If he’s going to put the spirit back in her heart, it’ll take more than twinkle lights and mistletoe. Maybe giving her something she thought she’d lost forever will do the trick. That part will be easy compared to resisting the urge to fall in love with a girl who’s moving on to bigger things.
Just when Tyler finally gathers the courage to tell her how he feels, his hopes are dashed by an unexpected turn of events. Keeping his feelings a secret might be what’s best for her, but can he let go of the girl who melted his fears away and never know what might have been? Will a renewed love of a hometown Christmas be enough for Rachel to forget her dream of moving to the big city, and reject the man who was going to make it happen?
Dive into this heartwarming tale that celebrates the magic of Christmas, the power of community, and the transformative nature of unexpected love.
Most people have a comfort food, the one that feels like a warm hug when you're down, or one that brings back memories of Sunday dinners at Grandma's. They are soothing and familiar. Well, I've got a few comfort television shows, ones that I like to have playing in the background when I'm cooking, getting ready for work, or just relaxing in front of the TV with a cup of coffee.
For the past several of years, my go-to comfort show has been Home Town on HGTV, hosted by Ben and Erin Napier. I love home renovation shows in general, but this couple is actually involved in the lives of the people they help, breathing life into their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi.
I absolutely loved their memoir, "Make Something Good Today." This sweet couple touched my heart and I loved having that inspiration to weave throughout my story.
